Dive Brief:
- A fire at Entergy's Arkansas Nuclear One power plant caused the company to take one of the plant's two nuclear reactors offline early Monday morning. The fire has since been contained.
- Bowling said an auxiliary transformer, which provides electric power to the plant, caught fire on the "non-nuclear portion" of the plant, according to the Associated Press.
- Despite acknowledging there may have been an explosion, Entergy spokesman Mike Bowling said no one was injured and there was no risk to the public.

The cause of the fire is not yet known and Arkansas Nuclear One Unit 2 is offline until further notice. The reactor has a 987-MW capacity, which is roughly equivalent to 15% of Arkansas' total energy demand.
