CHICAGO, IL – March 17
EPCE’s education partner, Bismarck State College is excited to offer a highly interactive, online Instrumentation and Control Track within their Nuclear Power Technology program beginning fall 2017.
Nuclear power companies representing EPCE’s Nuclear Power Technology Advisory Council understand the importance of educating and training the next generation of I&C Techs, and through a partnership with Bismarck State College will offer this new Instrumentation & Control (I&C) online track starting August 2017.
The track is created by leveraging the strength of EPCE’s national coalition of energy subject matter experts and its education partner, the National Energy Center of Excellence at Bismarck State College (BSC). It not only provides interactive technology, but is accelerated, flexible, transferable, and provides a “Stamp of Approval” from national nuclear power employers ensuring that the skills and knowledge gained will directly apply to the job.
Offering an online I&C track supports and readies technicians to be responsible for calibrating, testing, troubleshooting, reworking, modifying and inspecting nuclear plant instrumentation and control components and systems. “Expanding the breadth of a technician’s knowledge and skills is important for the future nuclear workforce,” said John Nichols, Site Training Director at Exelon Generation. “Many energy companies are hiring, but to qualify workers, they need the right training and credentials.”
“The online I&C track for the nuclear program was built with the concept of assisting the
the industry with the Nuclear Promise platform by applying the Nuclear Uniform Curriculum
Program requirements. By completing the degree and certificate requirements, a student
will be able to earn an NUCP certificate, which can enhance their career opportunities,”
said Kyren Miller, NECE Department Chair.”
“The online I&C track in BSC’s Nuclear Power Technology program includes courses and a degree that align to skills not only needed in the nuclear power industry but the energy industry as a whole,” says Christine Carpenter, Director of EPCE. “And now, the option to enroll in an online track, starting this fall, makes the program more accessible than ever.” org
