Where are the smart cities that countries around the world will emulate as they struggle to find ways to accommodate explosive population growth in coming decades?
A new report from Lux Research identifies four cities with initiatives they say are among the most replicable models, and one of them is in Colorado.
The three utilities are the ones tagged as the most intelligent in the annual UtiliQ rankings by Intelligent Utility magazine and the market research firm IDC Energy Insights. San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E).
Intelligent Utility magazine says it bases the UtiliQ ranking on a company's performance using five quantifiable intelligence metrics:
- including productivity
- renewable energy portfolio
- smart initiatives
- energy efficiency
- demand response and load management programs (and customers enrolled)
- IT investment.
