The EPA last week proposed the first set of carbon pollution standards, which would regulate the maximum amount of carbon emissions from future power plants.
The EPA proposal, part of the Clean Air Act, would cap output-based CO2 at 1,000 pounds per megawatt-hour. The rule would not apply to existing power plants, or power plants that are slated to start construction within 12 months of the proposal.
