A Mississippi electric cooperative will explore an agreement to purchase power from, and possibly a minority share of ownership in, a pair of nuclear units to be built in South Carolina.
South Mississippi Electric Power Association will discuss the potential arrangement with Santee Cooper, South Carolina's state-owned utility, which wants to reduce its ownership share in the two-unit, 2,200-megawatt expansion of the V.C. Summer Nuclear Station.
The units are slated to come on line in 2017 and 2018.
