It's not yet the renaissance that supporters hope for, but there's more activity on the nuclear power front than there has been in a generation.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has approved a license for two, new 1,117-MW reactors at the V.C. Summer Nuclear Station in South Carolina. Along with activity at nuclear plant sites in Georgia and Alabama, the Southeast could get a major boost in low-emissions power, though it lacks widespread access to renewables such as wind.
