The Association of Energy Services Professionals (AESP) has launched the Florida Clean Energy Pathways Program, a statewide initiative designed to connect young adults with clean energy careers through guided training, mentorship and financial support.
The program is funded by a workforce development award from the National Academies’ Gulf Research Program and developed in partnership with Julius Education, GED Testing Service and other workforce and industry collaborators.
Aimed at Floridians ages 16 to 25, the program places special focus on serving individuals historically underrepresented in the energy sector.
“Florida, like many states, faces a significant skills gap in the clean energy workforce,” said Jen Szaro, president and CEO of AESP. “This program is designed to directly address those needs—by guiding young people into high-quality career pathways and providing the resources and support they need to succeed.”
Participants progress through a structured, seven-step journey to explore clean energy careers, build career-readiness and industry-specific skills, and connect with next steps such as training programs, certifications, internships and job placements. Milestone-based stipends are available to reduce financial barriers and help learners stay on track.
“The Florida Clean Energy Pathways Program represents a powerful opportunity to connect adult learners with the growing number of well-paying jobs in clean energy—many of which don’t require a four-year degree,” said CT Turner, president of GED Testing Service. “By aligning education with in-demand skills, we’re not just opening doors to employment; we’re creating pathways to long-term economic mobility.”
Key partners include:
- Julius Education, which powers the program’s career navigation platform using AI-driven labor market data to align training with employer demand.
- GED Testing Service, supporting targeted outreach to current GED candidates and recent graduates across Florida.
- SkillFusion, Froliq, the Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC) at the University of Central Florida, the Florida Chamber Foundation and Selling Energy, contributing technical training modules, curated learning content and industry insights.
Participants can pursue careers in high-growth sectors including solar energy, energy efficiency, building performance and electric vehicle infrastructure.
The program is free to eligible Florida residents and is open for enrollment now.
