Detect, an AI-powered inspection and analytics platform helping utilities improve management of critical infrastructure, has been selected to join the fourth cohort of 35 Mules, Florida Power & Light Company’s in-house innovation hub.
“Miami is quickly becoming a hub for energy and AI innovation,” said Matthew Sattler, CEO of Detect. “Being part of 35 Mules validates our mission to help utilities maintain safer, more reliable infrastructure.”
Chosen from a global pool of 172 applicants, Detect will spend 15 months developing its technology with mentorship from industry leaders and access to Fortune 500 subject matter experts at NextEra Energy’s campus in Juno Beach.
“We are thrilled to welcome our fourth cohort of entrepreneurs into the 35 Mules family,” said Danielle Mousseau, Director of Economic Development, 35 Mules.
“Each of these startups represents the bold, innovative spirit that 35 Mules is built to support. We are committed to empowering their growth while they develop transformative solutions that will benefit industries and the Florida business ecosystem."
Detect founded an AI-powered inspection and analytics platform, DetectOS, helping utilities improve management of critical infrastructure.
DetectOS utilizes custom-built AI, trained on transmission and distribution defect patterns, accurate utility network coordinates, and critical third-party attachments (such as telecom equipment), to synthesize and process drone and ground-based imagery.
DetectOS can identify a wide range of issues, including but not limited to:
- Structural fatigue and metal degradation
- Bolt corrosion or missing hardware
- Vegetation encroachment before clearance limits are breached
- Weather-driven damage from wind loading or storm stress
Detect is headquartered in Miami, Florida.
