The American Public Power Association is "extremely disappointed" with the proposed New Source Performance Standard announced recently by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
"In our view, this proposed rule effectively kills coal going forward as a resource for electricity generation and contradicts the Obama administration's claim that it will pursue an 'all of the above' fuel strategy for meeting the nation's energy needs. This will limit our future resource options and could likely lead to higher electricity rates in the coming years," according to the APPA.
