The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has approved demand response (DR) budgets for the top three California utilities.
Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) will receive $192 million; Southern California Edison (SCE) will receive $196 million; and San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) will get $66.
The budgets are for the utilities' DR activities through 2014.
"Demand response, which is largely behavior based, requires a regular, steady and purposeful investment in order to be a reliable asset," Commissioner Mark J. Ferron said in a statement.
