The last cooling towers and chimney from National Grid's former Richborough Power Station in Kent, UK, have been knocked down to make way for an energy park that will be the British end of a high-voltage link with Belgium.
The interconnector is a joint project between National Grid and Elia, the Belgian transmission system operator, and would be the first electricity link between the two countries.
They plan to run a 1000-megawatt High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) undersea cable between Zeebrugge and Richborough, a distance of approximately 130 kilometers.
