New Energy Technologies and the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) have developed invisible wires for collecting and transporting electricity.
The virtually invisible conductive wiring system is being developed for New Energy's SolarWind technology, which is capable of generating electricity on see-through glass.
In order to generate electricity on SolarWindow, researchers must creatively layer and arrange ultra-small, see-through solar cells onto glass in a network interconnected by way of the "invisible" grid-like wiring system in development.
