Dive Summary:
- Texas Instruments’ (TI) new modular and scalable smart meter board development platform supports one- to three-phase smart electricity meters and enables developers to add options to their smart meter designs.
- Developers who use the technology will benefit from TI’s software library and will be able to choose which development tool matches their project needs.
- The board also integrates TI’s smart grid and connectivity solutions and is compatible with smart meter system-on-chip technology.
From the article:
Texas Instruments has introduced a modular and scalable smart meter board (SMB) development platform that supports one- to three-phase smart electricity meters, enabling developers to add multiple connectivity, processor and metrology options to their smart meter designs. The smart meter board incorporates key smart grid devices from TI’s broad portfolio of embedded, analog, and connectivity solutions.
According to TI, the SMB “lets developers include multiple wired and wireless communication protocols including power line communication (PLC), near field communication (NFC), Wi-Fi, sub-1GHz and 2.4GHz ZigBee Smart Energy Profile (SEP) on e-metering and pre-payment metering applications to showcase automatic meter reading (AMR) and automatic metering infrastructure (AMI) systems.” ...
