Austin, TX – TMG Consulting, Inc. is proud to announce another first in the industry, successfully leading Grant County PUD’s journey to the cloud with its Oracle Customer Information System (CIS) and Meter Data Management (MDM) System Transformation. This ground-breaking project was fully managed by TMG, delivered in November 2020 in just 16 months, and is the foundation of Grant’s “cloud-first,” 5-year technology transformation program that will touch every major system in the organization.
The challenge facing Grant was a dated implementation of Oracle CC&B from 2014/2015 that was nearing end of support, and a newly-deployed advanced metering infrastructure in 2019 that had no way to deliver enhanced value to Grant because there was no true meter data management capability in place to provide value from the metrology information that was coming from the meter population.
Grant enlisted stakeholder and partner support to embark on an ambitious journey to distance itself from legacy systems and tribal knowledge and fully embrace cloud technologies, starting with Oracle’s Customer to meter (C2M) for CIS and MDM, and enlisting TMG to run the project with support from Oracle Consulting, and a handful of additional project partners. TMG is proud to announce that this strategic initiative, which started in May 2019 went live on time and on budget in November 2020. It marks a milestone for both TMG and Grant as early successful entrants to the Oracle SaaS model and sets a high bar for others to follow.
TMG, playing the lead Systems Integrator role, provided overall project management, coordination of all resources and partners, and off-shore development and testing support to Grant. Further details of the Grant Transformation can be found in The Global Power & Energy Elites 2021: Projects; “Future-proofing through cloud technology.”
With long-tenured and deeply experienced employees, a strong leadership team, and robust offshore delivery capabilities in the Philippines, TMG expertly guides utilities in their SaaS and Cloud solutions, providing hands-on relevance and knowledge of the latest cloud options and the permutations of the various solution deployment and support models available to utilities today. As a collaborative project partner with Grant County PUD, TMG ensured that every part of the project was carefully managed and delivered with high quality and within the utility’s budgetary framework.
“Grant PUD’s SaaS-first approach ensures that those big-step change deployments are replaced with a steady stream of patches and feature enhancements that enable the utility to evolve both the company and value we give our customers in a manageable way,” shared Derin Bluhm, Chief Technology Officer at Grant PUD.
“Technology transformation such as providing long term low rates for customers, allowing quick reaction time to outages, and de-risking operations through leveraging cloud-based services are just a few of the benefits from this cloud-first approach and how it will continue transforming the utility industry,” said Pam Glanvill, President of TMG. “It underscores TMG’s expanding leadership commitment to expertly guide utilities to SaaS and Cloud solutions with hands-on, experienced systems integration and solution delivery expertise.”
