PCI Energy Solutions, a leading provider of energy software solutions, is pleased to announce a significant milestone in its partnership with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) to support the transition of the Intermountain Power Project (IPP) from coal to natural gas and ultimately to a hydrogen-natural gas blend. LADWP, which acts as the operating agent for IPP, is leveraging PCI’s integrated platform to manage end-to-end market operations for the new combined-cycle facility.
As the largest municipal utility in the United States, LADWP is playing a key role in operationalizing the shift toward cleaner fuels. With PCI’s platform, LADWP can seamlessly support IPP’s day-ahead and real-time fuel operation, tagging, and settlements, ensuring operational continuity throughout the project’s fuel transition, including the integration of a blended hydrogen fuel mix.

As part of its broader PCI Insights initiative, PCI is helping clients modernize reporting by migrating from legacy tools to a flexible, analytics-driven data architecture. PCI Insights supports both embedded visualization through PCI’s Visual Reporter and external dashboarding via platforms like Power BI and Tableau, giving customers the ability to tailor insights to their operational needs.
Intermountain Power Agency (IPA), the owner of the Intermountain Power Project, is preparing to use PCI’s platform to support hydrogen blending and tracking during the upcoming commissioning phase of the new facility.
“We’re leveraging PCI’s platform to track hydrogen production, storage, and usage as we prepare for the upcoming hydrogen blend testing,” said Kyle Tran, Project Manager at IPA. “The system provides the real-time visibility we need to ensure a smooth transition from 100% natural gas to hydrogen fuel blend.”
This latest deployment — PCI’s Insights Data Warehouse supporting LADWP’s Tableau-based dashboards for operational and billing data —builds on the success of an earlier phase in which PCI helped IPA expand hydrogen storage tracking capabilities. Together, these efforts reflect PCI’s commitment to supporting its customers’ evolving fuel mixes, regulatory requirements, and clean energy goals.
