Unicorn, a European enterprise software and systems integration company, announced that its Unicorn Universe platform has been recognized in the 2026 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Digital Twin of an Organization Platforms.
The Gartner report evaluates platforms that create a digital model of how an enterprise operates, connecting strategy, processes, organizational structure, people, systems, and data in a single environment. For utilities and grid operators, that model is increasingly a practical requirement rather than an architectural exercise. Interconnection queues, flexibility markets, workforce turnover, and tightening regulatory requirements are reshaping operating models faster than static documentation can keep up, making it essential for operators to understand the downstream impact of change before implementing it.
Unicorn Universe powers Unicorn's energy software products, including Damas, Griffin, Certigy, and other specialized solutions for electricity transmission, distribution, energy markets, and critical infrastructure operations. These products are used by leading organizations across the energy sector, such as Norwegian transmission system operator Statnett, Czech transmission system operator ČEPS, Italian sustainable energy services operator GSE, and the Association of Issuing Bodies (AIB). Overall, more than 155 enterprises in multiple industries use solutions built with the Unicorn Universe Digital-twin Construction Kit.
One Platform for Design and Operations
The platform treats the digital twin as a live, continuously managed environment rather than a static model. Enterprise architecture and day-to-day operations share a single workspace, from strategic objectives to individual employee activity and the same model governs employees, external users and AI assistants.
Unicorn believes this unified architecture is the platform's key differentiator and one of the qualities reflected in Gartner's evaluation. In practice it produces three effects that matter in regulated infrastructure environments: traceability of changes across the organization, automatic permission management when the organization restructures, and reduced risk in the governance and control of business processes.
Operators can run the platform in public cloud, sovereign cloud or on-premises environments — a condition of entry for organizations subject to critical infrastructure and data residency requirements, including EU operators covered by NIS2.
“Unicorn Universe is built on a long-term technological vision that we have been systematically advancing at Unicorn for many years. I am proud that we have succeeded in creating an outstanding platform that is powerful, secure, and remarkably easy to deploy across a wide range of enterprise solutions. Today, its strengths are being recognized by leading industry analysts. Personally, I consider the creation of Unicorn Universe to be one of the greatest achievements of my professional career. What I value most, however, is that we have had the opportunity to build this ambitious vision together over many years and bring it to life. There is still much work ahead of us, and I am convinced that together we will continue to evolve Unicorn Universe, expand its capabilities, and open up entirely new opportunities for our customers,” said Vladimír Kovář, founder of Unicorn.
“We see Unicorn Universe’s inclusion in the Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Digital Twin of an Organization Platforms as confirmation of Unicorn’s long-term strategy of focusing on product solutions. We are systematically investing in the development of the Unicorn Universe Digital-twin Construction Kit, drawing on our experience delivering large-scale projects for major enterprises across various industries. We are pleased to see that these experiences have been transformed into a product that creates long-term value for customers while keeping pace with technology trends, including artificial intelligence,” said Jan Jaroš, CEO of Unicorn Systems.
“Many technology companies strive to transition from project-oriented business models to developing their own products, but according to Gartner analyses, as many as 80% of companies do not complete this transformation successfully. It requires not only technological excellence, but also long-term vision, discipline, and the ability to invest in the future. Unicorn is an example of a company that has successfully leveraged its experience from delivering large customer projects to build its own product platform. That journey remains the exception rather than the rule in our region and demonstrates the company’s exceptional quality and strategic focus,” said Markéta Kudrnová, Sales Director for Technology Markets at Gartner in Central and Eastern Europe.
Unicorn continues to develop the platform with a focus on agentic AI assistants, AI-generated user interfaces, and an architecture prepared for machine-composable interfaces, with further releases planned this year and next.
