Dominion Virginia Power crews were able to restored power to almost all of the company's customers by Monday night, less than 24 hours after a weekend snowstorm brought wet, heavy precipitation to parts of its territory.
The company said it expected to have all service back this morning.
About 40,000 customers lost power. Utilities across Virginia were affected by the snowfall in what has been an unusually mild winter.
Dominion crews from unaffected areas of the commonwealth were sent to help in restoration efforts in Central Virginia, Charlottesville and the Shenandoah Valley, where the impact of the heavy, wet snow – twice as wet as typical snow – was most severe.
