Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L), after much criticism from the N.J. Board of Public Utilities (BPU) of the company's handling of its underground electrical network, has agreed to implement the recommendations in a special reliability master's report that evaluated and analyzed the Morristown underground electrical network.
Among other things, the report recommends:
upgrading relays for shorter restoration times
replacing two electrical switches
providing additional employee training on data collection and vault inspections for preventive maintenance
conducting a pilot to test different methods for installing manhole covers
The board ordered in October that JCP&L hired Patrick Downes of PJ Downes Associates LLC to be the special master.
