Entergy Texas is seeking approval from the Public Utilities Commission of Texas to join the Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator (MISO), a move the company believes will save rate-payers as much as $225 million over the next decade.
The filing is part of Entergy's initiative to join its six operating companies with MISO, a project that will add a total of 15,000 miles of transmission and 30,000 MW of generation to MISO, according to Entergy's website.
"The MISO/Entergy system's combined footprint will span a geographic area from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico, thereby increasing the diversity of the peak demands of the MISO members and creating the opportunity for greater capacity savings," according to the application filed Monday with Texas regulators.
