The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) has completed the installation of smart meters – a project that began in 2009 – for more than 600,000 residential and business customers.
With so much of the public opposed to smart meters, how did SMUD get buy-in from the majority of its customers? According to SMUD, its smart-meter program was customer-centric with customer satisfaction driving the project.
