• First Solar is building a 250-megawatt photovoltaic plant for NextEra Energy Resources in Riverside County, California.
• The McCoy Solar Energy Project will be built on 2,300 acres of mostly federal land and is slated to be finished in 2016. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
• NextEra is proposing an interconnection for the project with the Colorado River Substation.

This latest California project will support the drive by investor-owned utilities to obtain 3% of their power from renewable sources by 2020.
